A great audiobook/book by Olympic marathon medalist Deena Kastor. Kastor recounts how she developed the positive mindset that helped her achieve her goals.
Boston and NYC marathon winner and Olympic medalist Meb Keflezighi writes about each of the 26 marathons he ran in his pro career. One marathon per chapter with a key lesson learned, details of training, challenges, and a compelling account of the race itself. Great insights into pro running training, race strategy, mental strength. Reminds us that the pros face many of the same struggles that amateurs contend with.
This is an extraordinary story on many levels. Fundamentally it's about facing adversity and finding a way to a positive outcome. Highly recommended for long runs outside when you need some extra motivation to make it happen.
“For those who like adventure stories straight-up, THE BOYS IN THE BOAT… is this year’s closest approximation of Unbroken….It’s about the University of Washington’s crew team: “Nine working-class boys from the American West who at the 1936 Olympics showed the world what true grit really meant.” —New York Times
